Album Release Party

By cam — Filed under: Blog

March 4th, 2009.

A date that will live in…what’s the opposite of infamy?
Even though our new album, “The Sad Thing Is, We Like It Here” had been out for a few months already, we as a band felt it was necessary to throw some sort of an event.  An album launch for our LA fans and friends to attend.  Even more than that, we wanted it to be a party.  Something people would actually WANT to come to.  Something Shaimus had never even attempted to attempt before.
For two months, we worked with our good friends at Starfish Promotions putting together a night of music, videos, drinks, and socializing.  As a band, we spent every rehearsal drilling and relearning how to play songs that we had been playing for years now.  Believe me when I say that is not as easy a task as it sounds.  We rented out The Mint, which is definitely one of our favorite clubs here in LA, for the entire night, using it as our own personal playground.   But in place of a jungle gym, they gave us a bar.  Dave would think otherwise, but I say it’s a fair trade.
The crowd was sold out.  Spirits were high.  The beer flowed like wine.  The show was on point.  Long lost friends came to support.   Family members flew from all over the country.   All this to see our silly little band play some songs.  Really, it couldn’t have gone any better.
Before we took the stage, we previewed some videos, including the debut of our “Making The Album” video, all of which can be seen in previous blog posts or on our YouTube channel: ShaimusBand.
We played the new album straight through, then encored with our version of “Everlong” by the Foo Fighters.  Then enthusiastically finished with “All of This”.
For me personally, it was one of the proudest moments I’ve ever experienced as a musician.
So, this sure seems like a good time to thank all our fans, whether you were in attendance or not, and to everyone who has ever helped spread the word of Shaimus.  Thank you for making this such a memorable night for the whole band.  We appreciate your support and look forward to bringing our music to your hometown very, very soon.  So stay tuned.
Cheers,
Cam
P.S. – Super special thanks to: Starfish, Harmonix, Steve Fantasia, Adam Kerpelman, Mike Tabolsky, The Mint, and Coin-Op TV.
